Treatment Considerations
General Considerations
Your Surgical Options
With advances in hair restoration technology, techniques, and therapy, patients now have various clinical treatment options for treating their hair loss disorder. Depending on the individual patient's extent of hair loss, the type of hair loss disorder, and the individual's aesthetic goals, our doctors may recommend FUE (follicular unit extraction) or FUT (follicular unit transplantation). Each treatment can be performed at our New York City practice to deliver exceptional results. However, there are substantial differences between the two, which can be further discussed during an in-depth consultation.
The Cost of the Treatment
The cost of treatment will vary on a case-by-case basis and the surgical diagnosis, and is largely dependent on the type of procedure and size of the treatment area. FUT is a more cost-effective option, with grafts ranging from $4 to $6. Although FUE is more expensive, costing $7.50 to $11 a graft, many patients choose this procedure for its benefits. At our practice in NYC, we accept financing options to help make treatment more affordable.
Risks and Complications
As with any surgical procedure, hair restoration surgery does carry some degree of risk. In rare cases, patients may experience symptoms of infection, scarring, and some minor post-operative numbness. By working with a skilled doctor at our practice, you can rest assured we will take all necessary precautions to minimize your risk of complications.
The Recovery Period
Patients should be prepared to experience some minor to moderate discomfort during their recovery, typically lasting no longer than 10 to 12 days. Some patients may be able to return to work within one to two days following their procedure, while some may require a few extra days of recuperation. It is important to consider the amount of time you may need off from work, as well as limitations on strenuous activities immediately following your surgery.

Our Patient Achieved "An Amazing Result"
It's been over 3 years since I had my procedure with Dr. Dorin. I'm so glad that I chose this office and Dr Dorin. What an amazing result from a very competent and caring staff. Thank you. I wouldn't go anywhere else!! I live in Florida but travelled to New York just to see this doctor. Don't even consider another group.
I just finished my third procedure with Dr. True, and I can't recommend True & Dorin Medical Group any more highly. From the Dr. True, to the admin staff, and particularly the nurses and technical staff, they made the process and procedure a truly enjoyable one. And most importantly, I have been very happy with the results of the procedure.
To Dr. True and staff, a big THANK YOU.
The Day of
Your Hair Restoration Surgery
Wear comfortable clothing to our office and be prepared to spend the day with us. Depending on the number of hair grafts needed to achieve your goals, each session can last between five to eight hours.
What to Expect
after Surgery
Pain Management
After follicular unit extraction (FUE) or follicular unit transplantation (FUT), patients should be prepared to experience some minor to moderate discomfort for the first 10 to 12 days. However, any pain should be easily manageable with anti-inflammatories and patients should not require additional assistance during their recovery.
Length of the Recovery Period
Everyone's health and response to surgical therapy are different. As such, individuals will experience slightly different rates of healing and recovery after undergoing treatment at our New York practice.
Returning to Physical Activities
It is important to consult your doctor before returning to more physical activities. Although we want you to maintain your health by being active, it is important to go easy after hair transplant surgery.
Caring for Your Scalp
Our doctors will outline proper care of the treatment areas and give you step-by-step instructions on how to clean and care for your scalp based on your individual needs.
The Recovery Timeline
Patients "Highly Recommend" Our Practice
I had 2 small procedures (fue: 230 grafts and 310 grafts), 2 years apart with Dr, Dorin and I am very happy. My plan remains the same...continue every few years with small sessions and no one will know that I ever had a procedure done at all! So far, so good. I am planning on my 3rd procedure in January or so, 2017. Eventually, my entire frontal part will be transplanted and permanent. I highly recommend Dr. Dorin and his staff. Very professional.
Dr dorin & his staff are incredibly great!!! I had an fue procedure done with them, and no complaints everything went according to planned. Reasonably priced. I would highly recommend Dr Dorin and his team! Thank you for the great work!
