There are plenty of options that are out there when it comes to hair restoration, and as technology and research progresses, new options will inevitably emerge. At our Boston, New York City, and New Jersey hair transplant surgery centers, we’ve been monitoring the latest in these advances in hair restoration. We know that once these options have been properly tested and improved, it’ll be a great service to our patients to inform them of these new methods during the consultation process.

Lately, the team here at True & Dorin Medical Group have taken an interest in the idea of cloning technology and what that could mean when it comes to reversing the signs of balding. Let’s take a brief moment to see where this technology and process stands at the moment.

Currently, the best option available for hair cloning is currently being researched and developed. It’s more generally known as hair multiplication, though hair cloning is a good way of thinking of it as well.

The idea behind hair multiplication is that donor cells will be extracted from healthy hair follicles on a patient’s scalp. Once these cells have been harvested, they will be replicated and multiplied in the lab. After a time, a certain number of these cells will have been cloned and then they will be inserted into the scalp of the patient where there is hair loss. The theory is that by doing so, this will stimulate new hair growth in those areas.

As we’ve mentioned above a little earlier, these methods are still being researched and developed, so hair cloning and hair multiplication are not options available today for hair restoration. The best option at the moment is hair transplant surgery, which can help you have a natural and healthy head of hair again. If you would like to learn about hair transplant risks and benefits as well as your many other options to fight balding, be sure to contact our New Jersey and New York hair restoration centers today.
